Tables are based on a ratio of 1 :1 (barrows : gilts) with high-medium lean growth rate (325 g/day of carcass fat-free lean) from 20-120 kg body weight.
Assumption ME=96% DE in maize-soyabean diets of these protein levels.
In diets for the 3-10kg liveweight level the diets containing blood plasma/dried milk products will contain protein levels 20-30g/kg less than shown.
Total amino acid requirements are based on the following types of diets: 3-5kg maize -soyabean meal with 5% dried plasma and 20-25% dried milk products. 5-10kg pigs maize-soyabean diet with 5-25% dried milk products. 10-120kg pigs maize-soyabean meal diet.
The total Lysine amounts for 3-20kg pigs
are estimated from empirical data. The other amino acids for 3-20kg pigs are
based on the ratios of amino acids to lysine (true digestible basis); however
there is little empirical data to support these ratios. The requirements for
20-120 kg pigs are estimated from the NRC growth model.

Tables are based on a ratio of 1 :1 (barrows : gilts). The requirements of certain minerals and vitamins may be slightly higher for pigs having high lean growth rates (>324 g/day of carcass fat free lean), but no distinction is made.
The percentages of calcium, phosphorus and available phosphorus should be increased by 0.05 to 1.0% points for developing boars and replacement gilts from 50-120 kg body weight.
The niacin in maize, grain sorghum, wheat and barley is unavailable. Similarly, the niacin in by-products from these cereal grains is poorly available unless they too have undergone a fermentation or wet milling process.
